BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Kelli Patterson-Tussey has officially resigned from her position as the Bucyrus City Council Clerk, just under a month after her appointment.

In a resignation letter submitted to Council President Fankhauser, Patterson expressed her deep regret over the decision.

Dated October 6, 2025, the letter states: “With great sadness, I am ethically and morally unable to continue as the Council Clerk of the City of Bucyrus. I really wanted to help and I am very sad to resign.

Bucyrus City Council President Kurt Fankhauser, who serves as Patterson-Tussey’s  Director Supervisior, told Crawford County Now:

“Kelli has been the best Clerk I’ve worked with out of all who have served Council. Unfortunately, I understand her decision to step down. Given the current dysfunction within Council, I recommend that we suspend all unnecessary legislation in the works and focus solely on passing the 2026 budget.

Additionally, I suggest that the council refrain from hiring a new Clerk for the remainder of this term.

Pro-Tem Clerk Stuckman could fulfill the duties for the final few meetings of the year, and the incoming Council for the 2026–2027 term can then appoint a new Clerk. That would allow a fresh council to appoint its Clerk and not have to be subject to this current environment on Council,” Fankhauser said.
