MARION — A former Crawford County Sheriff’s Office corrections officer, facing multiple charges, will remain in custody of the Multi-County Correctional Center in Marion after refusing a term of his bond.
Jason M. Tupps, 44, was unwilling to comply with the fitting of a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor (SCRAM) at MCCC, a condition of his bond, confirmed by Crawford County Supervising Probation Officer Eric Bohach.

Tupps then was taken to Marion General Hospital for an unknown cause. This was confirmed by Crawford County Sheriff Scott Kent. Kent said it has not been decided where Tupps will be transferred to after his activity at Marion General Hospital is completed.
After a telephone hearing Dec. 31, Tupps was to be placed again on a personal recognizance bond until his trail scheduled to begin Feb. 11. One condition of the bond set by visiting judge Robert Pollex was for Tupps to wear the SCRAM monitor until the trial.
Tupps was taken into custody on a bench warrant Dec. 28 after he failed a routine alcohol screening and then failed to report for a follow-up visit after the violation.
Due to not being in compliance with the condition of his bond, Tupps now is expected to remain in custody until his trial.
