BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A 52-year-old Bucyrus woman appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court this week to face charges related to the theft of funds from a local veterans organization.

Patricia Butler, who served as treasurer for the Bucyrus VFW Post 1078 beginning in 2024, is accused of stealing between $1,000 and $7,500 from the organization. While the current charges reflect that amount, others have suggested the total missing funds could be significantly higher.

In addition to theft, Butler faces four third-degree felony counts of tampering with evidence. Prosecutors allege that Butler provided falsified bank statements to the organization’s trustees to conceal the financial discrepancies. The alleged incidents took place between October 2025 and March 2026.

During her court appearance, Butler entered a plea of not guilty to all charges. Judge Sean Leuthold granted Butler a personal recognizance bond, subject to several conditions:

*   She must have no contact with the victims.

*   She is required to report to the probation department on a weekly basis.

*   She must remain drug and alcohol-free.

Butler is represented by Bucyrus attorney Andrew Motter. A pretrial hearing is expected to be scheduled in the near future.

Crawford County Now will continue to monitor this case as it develops.
