WOOSTER, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—For those looking to turn their skills into a career with a purpose, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is bringing a recruitment opportunity to Wooster this week.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will host a regional testing event beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the Gault Recreation Center, 515 Oldman Road, Wooster.

The event is designed to give prospective troopers a chance to learn more about life with the Patrol while completing several early steps in the hiring process during a single visit.

Candidates can meet with Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, complete an application, take the written test and, for those who advance, move directly into the physical fitness assessment.

The Patrol is looking for applicants who are driven and service-minded, including people with strengths in leadership, communication, technology and helping others. The agency describes the opportunity as a chance to “Transform Your Talents” into a career dedicated to serving and protecting Ohio communities.

Those attending should wear business-casual clothing and bring appropriate workout clothing and athletic shoes for the physical fitness portion.

Applicants must be between 20 and 39 years old, be U.S. citizens, possess a high school diploma or GED and hold a valid driver’s license.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to begin the application process before the event through the Ohio State Highway Patrol application process, although applications also can be completed at the event.

Those considering a career with the Patrol can also text “JoinOSHP” to (614) 654-OSHP to get started.

For questions about Friday’s regional testing event, contact Trooper Joshua Smith at (614) 203-5183.

For those who want to experience the job before applying, OSHP also offers a ride-along program. Interested individuals can contact their local OSHP post to arrange a ride-along with a trooper during a shift.
