Nathan Hinesman’s search for a more family-friendly career led him into insurance and financial services – and led him from Tontogany to Bucyrus.
Hinesman was in intellicommunications and indicated he was looking for a different direction for his career that would allow him to spend more time with his family that includes four children.
“I was sick of traveling and being away from my family,” Hinesman said.
Hinesman purchased the State Farm agency that had been long-held by Jim Gillenwater and moved to Bucyrus in January. Thursday, Hinesman and his staff had an official Bucyrus Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting. Hinesman talks about why insurance and why Bucyrus.
“I liked what I saw. Jim (Gillenwater) had a great business,” Hinesman said about the decision that brought him to Bucyrus. “The thing I like about it is following through and helping people with retirement planning.”
Hinesman’s staff of four at the office at 564 S. Sandusky Ave. includes his brother Jeremy. They not only sell and service traditional insurance products, but also mutual funds and various banking services through State Farm.
“I think State Farm is the leader in the industry,” Hinesman said. “And certainly the opportunity to take over for somebody that has been in the businesses for over 38 years, Jim Gillenwater, has been a tremendous asset to me and to our staff and the success that we’re having.”
Although he has been here for less than six months, Hinesman is joining in the Bucyrus community and is using his open house today as a fundraiser for the soon-to-return Bucyrus Safety town.
“Nathan is supporting Safety Town and we’re very appreciative,” said Bucyrus Police Chief David Koepke.
