An accident Thursday morning at the intersection of Bucyrus-Nevada and Knauss roads sent both drivers to the hospital, at least one of them with what appeared to be serious injuries.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident which occurred before 8:30 a.m. Early calls indicated the driver of a Chevy Equinox with Sandusky County plates had been trapped in that vehicle and first responders did have that equipment out at the scene.

A witness to the accident indicated the Equinox was southbound on Knauss Road and ran the stop sign. The other vehicle was a multi-axle dump truck that belonged to Steve Spreng Trucking out of Loudonville. The truck was headed east and collided with the passengers’ side of the Equinox. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Bucyrus Community Hospital. There was no word on the condition of either. The names of the drivers were also not available for release at the scene.

In addition to the Sheriff’s Office, first responders from LifeStar Ambulance, Wyandot East and Bucyrus Township fire departments were on the scene.
