On Wednesday, September 25, students in Crawford County, across the nation and in 20 other countries will gather before school at their flagpoles to pray as part of See You at the Pole (SYATP) and Global Week of Student Prayer.
All area students in grades six through 12 are invited to a SYATP Pre-Game event from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, September 22 at Good Hope Lutheran Church. Youth leaders affiliated with churches in the Bucyrus Ministerial Fellowship are sponsoring the gathering to help students kick off Global Week of Student Prayer and plan their SYATP gatherings. Pizza and pop will be served.
See You at the Pole (SYATP) is an annual student-led event in which students meet before school on the fourth Wednesday of September to pray for their school, the students, teachers, government and nation. SYATP began in Texas in 1990. On September 11, 1991 it became a national day of prayer. Over 3 million students participate in the event.
“This event is not a demonstration or political rally. It is not trying to make a statement for or against any particular thing, but is just a chance for students to get together to pray,” according to the SYATP website, www.syatp.com.
