To the voters of Bucyrus, just wanted to actually get you the facts on the Pool and Park Levy. I’m not against the opening of the pool, I had several ideas for opening the pool in 2026, but the Mayor, SSD, Auditor and many of your Bucyrus City Council members didn’t want to listen or to open it.

The monies in the General Fund have always been there. The Council chose not to put any money into the Pool line item. Fire, Park, Police and other costs come directly from this fund. Because the Safety Forces Levy doesn’t cover that total amount of money for Fire and Police. The fact is that the Fire Department takes the majority of this money. Basically, all overtime is created for no reason. This overtime could be stopped, but the Fire Chief, SSD, Mayor and several members of council will not stop this. However, they can choose not to.

Another fact is that your elected officials didn’t want the pool to open in 2026, the SSD didn’t want to deal with the amount of time it takes for this and that they wanted to use this in getting the levy passed. They want to hire a Park manager with this money in this levy to run the parks, but you can’t stop them from doing this. The city can do what they want to with this money, that includes not opening the pool over the next 4 years. They could use this money just for Parks and the city can make everyone pay to get into the pool if it opens, that means no FREE SWIMMING. The mayor can’t make the promise that the pool will open in 2027; the Auditor confirmed this during that meeting.

It is the same reason that they used Trash Trucks with the voters. Say one, tell multiple stories that were not true, then tell some more misinformation and give false numbers on the cost. This was a marketing plot to confuse taxpayers on this issue.

This is why I believe that our city government is so corrupt; they don’t care about your money and how you can afford to pay your bills, pay for your medicine, or put food on your table. They don’t even represent you anymore, it’s all about image, the unions and other city employees. Now, they want to pay raises for elected officials and employees again.

Plus, the fact that your Sewer Rates is going up, and the fact that Water and Storm Water will be going up also to pay for all the loans that the city took out.

It is up to the voters to decide what you want, but one thing is very clear that your city’s government will do whatever they want to. Once you vote for this, they control everything, whether you like it or not.

Please vote NO on the POOL AND PARK LEVY; the people need to let these elected officials know what you want. Make them work for you, not the other way around.
