BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—From the historic downtown square to residential neighborhoods, the city of Bucyrus has transformed into a holiday destination, proving that small towns can provide significant festive cheer.
Visitors entering the city are greeted by a comprehensive display of twinkling lights spanning the downtown area. At the center of the festivities is the community Christmas tree located in the Square, sponsored by AEP and the Bucyrus Tourism & Visitors Center.
The holiday atmosphere extends to the local business district, where storefronts have been decorated with festive displays intended to enhance the downtown shopping experience. Local officials noted that the creative efforts of business owners contribute to the overall warmth and charm of the season.
The Bucyrus Historical Society is also participating in the festivities at the Scroggs House, located at 202 S. Walnut St. The house is fully illuminated and features a traditionally decorated interior, offering visitors a historical perspective on Christmas celebrations.
The holiday spirit is not limited to public and commercial spaces. On East Oakwood Avenue, residents have created a destination of their own with extensive light displays.
“I, as well as our neighbors, do it for the benefit of the community,” said resident Doug Foght. “We really enjoy seeing all the people driving by.”
The combined efforts of the Historical Society, local businesses, and private citizens like those on Oakwood Avenue demonstrate a unified community spirit that makes the season unforgettable for residents and visitors alike.
