MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Nov. 4 General Election concluded Tuesday night with all 83 precincts in Richland County reporting, showing strong support for county-wide renewal levies and settling several tightly contested municipal races. Voter turnout for the general election stood at 23.24%, with 18,014 ballots cast.
Levies Pass with Strong Support
Voters overwhelmingly supported the two critical county-wide renewal tax levies:
- Richland County Mental Health Tax Levy (1 Mill Renewal): Passed comfortably with 11,855 votes (67.14%) FOR and 5,800 votes (32.86%) AGAINST.
- Richland County Public Health Tax Levy (0.9 Mill Renewal): Passed with 11,466 votes (65.98%) FOR and 5,913 votes (34.02%) AGAINST.
Local levies also saw broad approval across the county, including fire and road renewals in Madison, Monroe, Perry, and Washington Townships.
Mansfield Council Results Finalized
The closest municipal race of the evening was for the Mansfield City Council At-Large seat. Republican Shari Robertson secured the victory with 2,577 votes (51.10%), defeating Democrat Phillip E. Scott, who received 2,466 votes (48.90%).
In the contested ward races:
- 3rd Ward Council: Democrat Crystal Davis Weese won with 487 votes (50.10%) over Republican Eleazer Akuchie, who had 485 votes—a difference of only two votes.
- 1st Ward Council: Republican Michael Miranda won with 921 votes (61.24%) over Democrat Amber Thompson.
Ontario and School Board Results
In the City of Ontario, Republican Josh Bradley was confirmed as the next mayor, receiving 1,004 votes (71.82%). For Ontario Auditor, write-in candidate Logan Hull secured the office with 144 votes (58.54%) over fellow write-in Shannon Gongwer.
In local school board races:
- Mansfield City Schools: The top three vote-getters for the three open seats were Chris Elswick (1,947), Linda S. Golden (1,831), and Deena Hamilton (1,776).
- Madison Local Schools: The three winners for the Board of Education were Amy Walker (2,199), Mary C. Kotterman (1,872), and Adam Porter (1,839).
