CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Republican voters in Crawford County will see several contested races on the ballot during the upcoming May 5 primary election, including multiple races for positions on the Republican Central Committee.

In Bucyrus 2B, Kurt Fankhauser is facing Eric Griebling for the committee seat. Bucyrus 3B voters will choose between Gary Daiber and Joyce Schifer, while Galion 2B features a race between Michael Bear and Elmer Copp. In Polk Township, Julie Bell is running against Gina Cole.

Several local Republican candidates are running unopposed in the primary for county offices.

Current Crawford County Prosecutor Matthew Crall is seeking the seat for Common Pleas Probate and Juvenile Court Judge. Incumbent Common Pleas Judge Sean Leuthold is also running unopposed to retain his seat on the bench.

Current Crawford County Commissioner Tim Ley is unopposed in his bid to retain his position, while Crawford County Auditor Robyn Sheets is also running unopposed to appear on the November general election ballot.

In the race for Ohio’s 87th House District, Jeffrey McClain of Upper Sandusky is seeking the Republican nomination for the seat currently held by his son, State Representative Riordan McClain, who is unable to seek reelection due to term limits. McClain will face Democratic write-in candidate Lora Covrett in the general election.

There are no contested Democratic or Libertarian local races on the primary ballot.

The Crawford County Board of Elections, located on the lower level of the Courthouse, will offer extended hours for voters.
