BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Bucyrus City Council Health and Safety Committee convened Thursday evening in the council chambers, where Chairwoman Vicki Dishon shared important information regarding an upcoming traffic to be conducted by Mackeever and Associates.

During the meeting, Dishon shared an email from Wyatt, outlining details about the traffic study, which is already under contract.

She clarified that the document was mistakenly sent to the committee and was intended solely for informational purposes, indicating no action is required from the council. Dishon emphasized her intention to keep residents informed about the matter.

Wyatt recently met with Mayor Truka and Jeff Dunn, leading to the decision to conduct a traffic study assessing whether the center turn lane on South Sandusky Avenue should be removed. Currently, the only available data is from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The study, costing $18,500, will be conducted by Smart Services and has already been budgeted. It is scheduled to take place during the last weekend of August to account for both school and lake traffic. The study will focus on several intersections along South Sandusky Avenue (Rt. 98), including Beal, Williams, Home Circle, Schell, Crescent Court, Bruce, Kilbourne, Alan, Wallace, Southern, and Marion.

Additionally, the study aims to evaluate the necessity of a protected left turn signal. Wyatt noted that if the study recommends the installation of a left turn signal at Beal and Southern Avenues, the estimated cost would be approximately $300,000 for each location.
