A 19-year-old Galion man’s request for diversion of instead of conviction was granted Wednesday, but it didn’t come without a cost.
Zachary Strickland’s guilty plea to a felony 4 charge of receiving stolen property was accepted by Judge Russell Wiseman. Wiseman will hold the guilty plea while Strickland is on diversion. Should Strickland not successfully complete diversion he would formally receive a felony conviction and be placed on community control as a first offender.
One of Strickland’s diversion requirements is to pay over $5,600 in restitution to the victim in the case.
Strickland admitted he accepted jewelry from an underage friend and sold it for him as a favor at a pawn shop.
Wiseman told Strickland, “Nice is one thing, foolishness is another.”
