Talk to any grandparent and they’ll tell you there’s nothing they won’t do for their grandkids. For Gary Murphy and his wife Therese that meant moving halfway across the state and opening a new business.
Murphy held a Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting Wednesday for Murphy’s Auto Services at 109 West Mansfield St. in Bucyrus.
“Bumper to bumper, diesel and gas,” Murphy says about his garage. He’s quick to add he does complete auto detailing, inside and out as well.
The former United States Marine says there really hasn’t been a time he hasn’t worked on cars,
“All of my life,” Murphy said about his time as a mechanic. “I had two garages back in Chillicothe.”
Although he’s not from the area, Murphy said Therese does have roots in North Central Ohio and left no doubt what drew them to Bucyrus.
“I moved up here because of the grandkids,” Murphy said with a hearty smile.
Murphy serviced police vehicles there and already has been establishing corporate accounts locally and is taking care of vehicles for a couple of local companies.
He has been in business in Bucyrus since July 15.
