BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The court has dismissed a taxpayer lawsuit brought by a pro se (non-lawyer) plaintiff against the City of Bucyrus regarding the city’s purchase of automated garbage trucks. That plaintiff is Bucyrus resident Greg White, who believes the automated garbage truck purchases were not made legally and without proper public input. More than 500 signatures were gathered denouncing the purchase.
Visiting Judge Dale Crawford’s decision was primarily based on the legal finding that, under Ohio law, a non-attorney lacks the capacity to represent taxpayers in this type of legal action.
Additionally, the court noted that White failed to present sufficient admissible evidence to support the request for a permanent injunction.
This dismissal follows the court’s earlier denial of the White’s request for a temporary restraining order.
Crawford County Now reached out to Greg White, who says he plans to appeal.
