MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Renaissance Performing Arts Education Department has announced the return of its popular Improv Underground program, a free theatre improvisation course that is part of the 2024-25 Mechanics Bank Education Series.
The workshop aims to help students develop strong interpersonal skills through theatre games and improvisation. Improv Underground classes focus on building basic improv skills through group activities and are open to all students between the ages of 14 and 19. Students aged 12 to 14 may also be considered for participation with the instructor’s permission. Participants are guaranteed to gain self-confidence, improve communication skills, and have fun.
Classes will be held at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, starting January 29, 2025, and running through Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The course will culminate in an “open mic” style performance featuring class participants on Wednesday evening, March 5, at the Renaissance Theatre’s 166 venue. The course is led by Dauphne Maloney, who is well-known in the area for her work with youth theatre.
