Those looking for a bite to eat for a good cause will be in for a treat Sunday afternoon at the annual 4-H Forever in Crawford County Dinner and Auction.
Doors for the annual event, which is open to the public, open at 11:30 a.m. with dinner to start at 12:30 p.m. at the Youth Building of the Crawford County Fairgrounds. Dinner will include oven roasted chicken, pulled pork, with sides and Troyer’s Pie Catered by Carle’s Bratwurst. Following dinner the live and silent auctions will take place.
OSU Extension Office 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator Allison Cooper explained what the monies raised at the auction and dinner will benefit.
“The auction benefits a couple of different things youth programming throughout the year things like our Clover Bud Fun Day, our 4-H Camp, and then we also have an opportunity to send kids that are selected to camps around Ohio, there are a couple of trips that go Washington D.C. and all of those things kind of fund towards that.” Cooper said. “And then I believe 25 percent of the proceeds goes towards the scholarship fund, and our scholarship committee usually gives out usually anywhere between 5 and 10 scholarships for kids senior in high school, and freshmen in college.”
Items featured at this year’s auction will include a couple of pieces of artwork, a pedal tractor donated from Burkhart Farm Center, numerous gift cards and more. The silent and live auctions won’t be the only auction taking place during the event as for the first time the 4-H Forever in Crawford County will also host an online auction.
“This year we are going to try to do an online auction. We are hoping that it will get started Friday or maybe even Saturday, and so we are going to advertise it at the auction as well, and it will continue on after the auction for a week or two. ” Cooper said. “I think for sure what is going to be on that is a tree donated form Richards Landscaping and it is still in the bulb. So it is still buried and you can go and pick it out and take it home whenever you chose.”
The dinner will also recognize the annual 4-H Club book winners, their officer winners, the Mary E. King Nutrition Award, the winners of the friends of 4-H award winner, and the outstanding volunteer awards.
