CRAWFORD/MARION COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Crawford & Marion Counties ADAMH Board Executive Director Bradley DeCamp recently joined host Randy Bigley on Community Spotlight to discuss upcoming International Overdose Awareness Day events and Recovery Month initiatives taking place across the region.
Observances scheduled for Aug. 31 include an event in Marion from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Safe Harbor (156 N. Main St.), organized by Cornerstone of Hope and the Mid-Ohio Traumatic Loss Team, featuring a memorial butterfly release and community resources. In Crawford County, Crestline’s Hub will host the “Paint the Town Purple” event beginning at 6 p.m., complete with personal story sharing, music, free food, and a butterfly release. DeCamp noted that while overdose trends are improving locally, state-level, and nationally, community vigilance remains critical.
Following Overdose Awareness Day, local efforts transition into Recovery Month in September, featuring events such as the Crawford County Suicide Prevention Walk on Sept. 12, the Marion County Suicide Prevention Walk on Sept. 19, a Recovery Revival at the NAS, and Amplified Expressions at the Galion Theatre.
