GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) — The Galion Community Theatre will present a comedic spin on a classic horror story when “Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors” opens Friday, Oct. 23.

Directed by Todd Price, the play trades traditional gore for slapstick humor. The plot follows a lonely Count Dracula searching for real estate in London while nursing quick infatuations with other characters.

Perry Pearson stars in the title role, marking his return to the stage after 30 years. Alexa Tome portrays a gender-swapped, German-accented Dr. Van Helsing. While the original Broadway script calls for five actors playing multiple roles, Price expanded the local cast to 12 to showcase more community talent.

Performances are scheduled for Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. The Oct. 31 show will feature a Halloween costume contest with an award for the best-dressed attendee.

Following the play’s run, the theater’s upcoming schedule includes:

  • Nov. 8: Annual membership celebration and 2027 season announcement.
  • Nov. 20–22: A high school production of “Miracle on 34th Street.”
  • Dec. 4: “Christmas at the Galion” community variety show.
  • Dec. 5: A free screening of “The Polar Express.”
  • Dec. 12: “Tuba Christmas,” a holiday concert performed entirely on tubas.
