Crestline will be getting a new full-time police officer as Village Council approved the appointment of Tyler Winkelman.
The resolution, which was the only item on the agenda, was passed with emergency status. Winkelman will be placed on the customary probationary period of six months before being able to receive fulltime benefits.
Crestline Mayor David Sharrock announced the Gates Brown Appreciation Weekend October 3-6. The weekend will feature a Texas Hold’em Tournament at the Eagles in Crestline on Thursday, a spaghetti dinner and silent auction at Shenanigan’s on Saturday, and a golf tournament at Valley View Golf Course on Sunday. The events are being held to help William Gates Brown offset medical costs.
Brown had attended high school in Crestline playing baseball, football, and basketball before playing baseball for the Detroit Tigers between 1963 and 1975.
