BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A former Wynford Volunteer Coach learned of the charges leveled against him and the amount of bond set in his case. Chad Garberich 39, of Crestline appeared in the Crawford County Common Pleas Court Wednesday morning. Garberich has been charged with six counts of first degree rape, six second degree sexual battery charges, and one third degree felony for tampering with evidence.Â
The charges stem from incidents occuring in 2017 and 2018. They were just recently reported but occured when the victim was underage. No students at Wynford are known to be victims. Garberich coached at Wynford from the fall of 2022 until the end of 2026 when the school was notified of this complaint.

Upon notification of this investigation Wynford took action immediately and his volunteer coaching position was terminated. He also coached boys golf at Ridgedale in 2017 and girls golf at Lakota in 2013. Per Government Salaries, Garberich also worked at Crestline where he resides.
Crawford County Now reached out to Crawford County Prosecutor Matt Crall who provided this comment: “The Prosecutor’s Office intends on holding Garberich accountable to the full extent of the law.”
Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold set Garberich’s bond at $1,000,000.
He has retained attorney John Boyd of Mansfield. If Garberich makes bond he can have no contract with his victim or juveniles.
