MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—After seven years of rust and quiet, the engines are finally firing up at Mansfield Speedway. The historic track, which once sat abandoned, officially returns to action this Saturday with the “Comeback Classic,” marking a new era under the ownership of former NASCAR driver Matt Tifft.

The revival has been a massive undertaking, involving a complete overhaul of the facility. Renovations include a fresh layer of high-quality, rock-free clay sourced from Fremont, the installation of a massive Jumbotron, and a 60-speaker sound system. Beyond traditional dirt racing, the 180-acre site has been transformed into a multi-use entertainment complex featuring a new motocross course, UTV tracks, and nearly 1,000 primitive campsites.

“We’re going to have a photo finish with everything we had to put back together,” said Robbie Devore, the track’s announcer and social media face. “It sat and rusted… but we really got something cooking out there now.”

The season kicks off a packed schedule, including a “Night of Destruction” featuring school bus racing and a marquee $57,000-to-win World of Outlaws Late Model event later this month.
