BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The (QRT) is bridging the gap between crisis and recovery by meeting residents “where they are,” according to team leaders in a recent interview with Randy Bigley.
Formally launched on July 1, 2025, the QRT is a specialized outreach program under the “Together We Hurt, Together We Heal” organization. The team aims to contact individuals who have experienced an overdose or alcohol-related incident within 48 hours of the event.
Team Coordinator Mary Jo Carle stated that the program was born from a need to address high rates of overdose deaths and OVI incidents in the county. Unlike traditional law enforcement interventions, the QRT relies on certified peer recovery specialists—individuals with lived experience in recovery.
“I can relate to individuals on a different level than law enforcement,” said Megan Binion, a certified peer recovery specialist on the team. “My job is to meet them where they’re at and provide the resources they’re looking for… whether it’s treatment, GED classes, food, or clothing.”
The QRT’s reach extends into the Crawford County jail, where members host groups for men and women to discuss holistic recovery. The team also offers support for family members navigating the struggles of a loved one’s addiction.
Residents seeking assistance or information on community resources can contact the QRT office at 419-617-1012 or their work cell at 419-209-7530.
