BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A local man is in custody after leading Bucyrus police officers on an electric bicycle pursuit through the city Monday evening, eventually colliding with a police cruiser before being apprehended with suspected drugs.
Kevin Parker was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Justice Center following the incident, which began around 6:27 p.m. on June 29.
According to police reports, Officer Conner initially attempted to stop Parker for traffic violations near East Warren Street and South East Street. Parker failed to comply with the officer’s lights and sirens, fleeing northbound on South East Street on an e-bike.
Officers Wireman and Cox responded to assist as a pursuit was initiated. Parker rode through the Kroger parking lot and continued onto North Sandusky Avenue.
To prevent further danger to traffic and limit Parker’s escape routes, Officer Wireman utilized a channeling technique to guide the e-bike away from the roadway and into the open construction area of Norton Park. During the maneuver, Parker struck the side of cruiser 49, causing minor damage to the vehicle.
Officer Conner then deployed K-9 Capone to provide cover, and Parker was taken into custody without further incident. Following the arrest, officers reported finding suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Parker’s possession.
Medics from Bucyrus Fire Local 1120 assisted at the scene and medically cleared Parker of any injuries before he was booked into the county jail.
