CRESTLINE, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crestline Public Library has unveiled a diverse lineup of autumn programming, featuring wellness workshops, local history presentations, agricultural seminars, and a special appearance by an acclaimed special effects artist.

The fall schedule kicks off Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m. with the return of chair yoga following a summer hiatus. The gentle exercise class will continue every other Wednesday through December.

Local history takes center stage Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m. when Crestline Historical Society member Bill Fisher presents a program on Crestline native and Detroit Tigers pinch hitter Gates Brown. Fisher will be joined by John Heffner, owner of History and Relics, LLC, in the Cleveland area, who will screen a documentary video he authored on Brown’s life and career.

Family-friendly entertainment returns Sept. 15 at 5 p.m. with a Movie Night featuring a “Man of Steel” film rated PG-13. Complimentary popcorn will be provided for viewers.

For those seeking wellness and relaxation, a Loud Sound Bath experience is scheduled for Sept. 22 at 4:30 p.m. All necessary materials will be provided, but due to limited space, advance registration is required by calling or visiting the library in person.

October programming opens with educational agricultural events:

  • Oct. 1 (5:30 p.m.): The Olentangy Mushroom Company will discuss mushroom cultivation, cooking methods, species types, and health benefits.
  • Oct. 6 (5 p.m.): Local organic farmer Dave Paynter will share insights and techniques on organic food production.
  • Oct. 13 (5 p.m.): Representatives from Malabar Farm State Park will present on the historic property’s past and present operations.

The library’s fall events wrap up Oct. 20 with a special Halloween-themed program featuring world-renowned FX artist, writer, and director Robert Kurtzman.

Kurtzman, a Crestline native whose career spans four decades, will hold a book signing from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for his co-written novelization of “From Dusk Till Dawn.” A limited number of copies will be available on-site, or books may be pre-ordered by emailing rkmufx.order@gmail.com with the subject line “BOOK.”

Following the signing, the library will host a screening of the R-rated film “From Dusk Till Dawn” from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session with Kurtzman from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The screening is free, but space is strictly limited to 20 attendees. Pre-registration at the library and a valid photo ID are required; individuals under 18 will not be admitted.
