FOSTORIA, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Rail fans from across Ohio and beyond are expected to gather in Fostoria tomorrow as Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy No. 4014 makes a special stop during its historic America 250 coast-to-coast tour.
The world’s largest operating steam locomotive will be on public display Tuesday, July 14, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Fostoria Automotive Distribution Center, located at 3101 North Township Road 47. Admission is free, and no tickets are required.
Officials expect thousands of visitors to attend. Guests must arrive by vehicle, as pedestrian and bicycle access to the display site will not be permitted. After viewing the locomotive, visitors are encouraged to explore downtown Fostoria and the famous Iron Triangle Rail Park, where additional activities are planned throughout the day.
Built in 1941, Big Boy No. 4014 weighs more than one million pounds and is the only operating Big Boy steam locomotive in the world. The visit marks one of Ohio’s featured stops on Union Pacific’s first-ever East Coast tour in partnership with Norfolk Southern as part of the nation’s America 250 celebration.
