A Marion woman didn’t catch a train Monday in Common Pleas Court but she did catch a break and avoided a prison sentence.

Sierra Giles pleaded guilty to felony 4 interference with the operation of a train and felony 3 tampering with evidence for her role in an incident in Galion in July of 2012. Giles and her co-defendant parked a backhoe belonging to CSX on the train tracks. That backhoe was subsequently hit by a train.

Giles was placed on community control for three years and ordered to pay $53,202.12 in restitution to CSX. Should Giles fail to successfully complete community control she is subject to two prison sentences totaling 54 months.

Ronald Carver was placed on the diversion program for two years as a result of his guilty plea to felony 5 theft charges. Carver admitted to receiving unemployment benefits he was not entitled to. Carver must also pay $4,732 in restitution to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.

In an unrelated case, a $25,000 bond was revoked for Susan Wilson. Wilson, who is facing a charge of felony 3 drug trafficking, has been charged in Wyandot County on another felony drug charge and another misdemeanor. Wilson’s bond on the Crawford County case was re-established at $75,000.
