Traci Wetterau has officially gone from the classroom to the board room in her service to students of the Bucyrus City School District.
Wetterau is a retired teacher and was named Monday night to fill the vacant slot on the school board when no one ran for the seat.
“I just thought it would be something I would do eventually down the road maybe, I just wanted to remain interested in what was going on in the schools and everything, but didn’t expect it to be this soon,” Wetterau said. “But I feel that with my background as a teacher, that I have a unique perspective to bring to the board and a broad base of knowledge of the school district, so I am excited to do this.”
During its organizational meeting the Bucyrus school board elected Brad Murtiff as its president and Doug Schiefer as vice president.
Other assignments for board members this coming year include Adam Stone as Legislative Liaison for OSBA Federal Relations Network; Paul Johnson as Student Achievement Representative; Schiefer and Wetterau as Athletic Council Representatives; and Murtiff as Wellness Committee Representative.
