What sixty cents can do. . .
Why agonize over a Christmas gift for a loved one who really doesn’t need much? Rotary would like to offer an opportunity to assist us in our effort to eradicate Polio worldwide.
With Polio eradication a Rotary effort since 1979, the Bucyrus Rotary Club is participating with Rotary International to “End Polio Now”. Polio is currently endemic in only three countries but today’s mobility has it breaking out in others areas. This mobility requires a worldwide priority to get every child immunized. A successful National Immunization Day allows thousands of children to be immunized and avoid this crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease. Each vaccine dose costs only sixty cents.
Rotary Clubs around the world have joined the “We’re this close” campaign to make this final effort to protect children. The Bucyrus Club will be taking photos during the Candlelight Christmas on December 5 to use in our part of the “world’s biggest commercial” to End Polio Now. Stop by for a “Kodak moment” and join us in this effort.
Donations to the Rotary Foundation are tax deductable and if given through the local club, we can furnish “thank you” and “in your honor” letters for your support.
