Wynford Treasurer Leesa Smith gave her five-year forecast of the school district’s fiscal operations at the Board of Education meeting Monday night.

During Smith’s report she explained to the board that in the forecast there are a few highlighted points indicating that the school’s foundation, food service and health insurance could have the biggest impact on the forecast’s dollar amount. The foundation is expected to increase $350,000 over the next few years.

Smith explained some of her concerns for the updated five-year forecast, which runs through the fiscal year of 2018.

. “It is some of the unknowns, with the foundation formula. I am waiting for the final calculations,” Smith said. “With the insurance and the food service, not having those rates that will be affected during the school year, I have to kind of gauge on past experience.”

However even without all of the information for the forecast in Smith still expects the school district to stay out of the red over the next five years.

“A positive is that everything that our staff led by Superintendent Mr. Mohr have been able to do turn things around so that we have estimated revenue over expenditures, and be able to have a positive forecast of carryovers for the next five years,” Smith said.

Prior to the board conducting business, Wynford teacher Todd Enders gave a presentation of the Wynford Royal Times website http://wynfordroyaltimes.blogspot.com/. Enders’ presentation explained that the hardest part is staying on top of everything, but he thanked the students writing articles, and covering home events.

Prior to adjourning to executive session the Wynford School District Board of Education approved all personnel, and operational items.

Wynford School Board of Education President Brian Glowaski was absent from the meeting.
