On December 11, a Sunday, OAGC’s Strategic Planning Team accepted an invitation from L.L Bean to share with shoppers some aspects of gardening.

A team of five garden club members spent the afternoon reaching out to holiday customers with make and take bow-making, and arranging fresh greens in small baskets which participants took home. Adults and children interacted with the team during the three hours of sharing.

Visitors were given contact information if they expressed interest in a garden club. Crawford County garden club members Shirley Chapman, June Gebhardt and Mary Lee Minor of Earth Wind and Flowers Garden Club donned Santa hats and directed the making of bows and small arrangements.

The December meeting of Peas-in-a-Pod gardeners held at Wynford Elementary School brought designing of basket arrangements.

Youngsters were given instructions for completing a triangle arrangement.  They chose a basket lined with oasis then used fresh white pine, boxwood, and arborvitae to make an outline. Then bows and tails were made and added along with cones on picks and artificial fruit.

The members played Robber’s bingo selecting a gift that anyone else could take if desired. These were gifts from Mary Lee Minor who received adult help from Jan Nance, Cheryl Ambrose, and Trisha Goldfuss, members of the adult sponsoring club, Earth, Wind and Flowers.  The group planned a visit to Heartland for December 10 to share with residents Christmas spirit.
