A man who was convicted nearly 20 years ago of a sex-related crime was arraigned on a charge of first-degree felony rape on Monday.
David Reed was charged with rape, a first-degree felony. The event allegedly occurred on June 9. Reed who served four years for gross sexual imposition in 1997. Judge Sean Leuthold set Reed’s bond at $1 million and appointed Mansfield-based attorney James Mayer III to represent him.
Though the judge set bond at $250,000 for Cory Myers, he stated he would review that at a pretrial hearing. Attorney Adam Stone said Myers, who was charged with second-degree felony robbery and misdemeanor domestic violence, suffered from “pretty severe, undiagnosed developmental disabilities.” Stone indicated he would be seeking some sort of evaluation for his client.
Michaela Goshe was charged with complicity to burglary, a second-degree felony, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. Her bond was set at $150,000 and Brad Starkey was appointed as her attorney. County prosecutor Matthew Crall stated that Goshe allegedly directed her co-defendant through text messages on how to burglarize a family member, though she was not physically there at the time of the burglary.
A complete list of those arraigned who filed not guilty pleas, along with their charges and bonds, are: Leona Hoopingarner, F5 possession of heroin and M2 possession of drug abuse instruments ($75,000); Tyler Sims, F5 possession of synthetic cannabinoid (K2), M2 resisting arrest, and M2 obstruction of justice ($50,000); David Reed, F1 rape ($1 million); Abbie Riley, F5 possession of drugs, M2 possession of drug abuse instruments, and M4 possession of drug paraphernalia ($50,000); Alisha Hughes, F5 possession of drugs ($25,000); Cory Myers, F2 robbery and M1 domestic violence ($250,000); Jason Kitts, F5 possession of heroin and M4 possession of drug paraphernalia ($75,000); Michael Blum, F5 possession of drugs and M1 possession ($15,000); Michaela Goshe, F2 complicity to burglary and F3 tampering with evidence ($150,000); Shannon Evans, F5 theft ($50,000); Robert Osborn, F5 theft ($50,000); Robin Parker, F5 deception to obtain dangerous drugs (personal recognizance); Terri Foster, F5 possession of drugs ($25,000).
Three cases remain sealed.
