Pleading guilty won’t be the end of Shane Banks’ troubles. The young man now has a hefty bill to pay.

Banks waived prosecution by indictment and pleaded guilty on a bill of information to one count of breaking and entering in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Thursday afternoon. He admitted to trespassing at Niedermeier’s Towing in New Washington on July 5 with the intent to commit a theft offense. Banks broke an item while in the process.

Banks was placed on community control for three years for the felony five charge and was ordered to complete a drug and alcohol assessment as well as any follow-up treatment. He will also pay restitution in the amount of $1,342.34 to Niedermeier’s Towing.

Twenty-six-year-old Adam Swerlein pleaded guilty to a drug possession charge Thursday afternoon. He admitted to having heroin in his possession on July 27.

The Bucyrus man was placed on community control for three years and was ordered to complete a drug and alcohol assessment as well as any recommended follow-up treatment. Swerlein had his license suspended for six months and must pay a $1,250 mandatory drug fine. He was also credited 41 days of time served should he ever serve additional time on the sentence.
