BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW) — Crawford County residents will head to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, to vote on a series of important local issues, including countywide measures, city and village propositions, and various school district initiatives.

Among the key items on the ballot is a proposed 3.5-mill levy for the City of Bucyrus, which aims to fund equipment for both the fire and police departments. This five-year levy is projected to generate approximately $600,000 annually, with an average annual tax increase of $114 for homeowners with properties valued at $100,000.

In addition, voters will consider a 0.4-mill additional levy for the Crawford County West Joint Ambulance District, which seeks to enhance ambulance and emergency medical services. This five-year measure is expected to raise $61,000 each year, translating to an annual tax increase of $14 for a $100,000 home.

Other local measures include:

The Wynford Local School District is seeking a renewal of a 6.9-mill levy to fund current operating expenses for an additional three years.

Chatfield Township: A 1.5-mill renewal for three years.

Holmes Township: A 1.3-mill additional levy for fire and EMS services over three years, projected to raise $58,000 annually, costing property owners $46 per year for a home valued at $100,000.

Vernon Township: A 1.25-mill additional levy for fire and EMS services over five years, expected to raise $72,000 annually, with a cost of $44 per year for the same property value.

Area school districts are also asking for funding:

Galion City School District: A 5-mill additional levy for general permanent improvements, which would raise $1,025,000 annually and cost $175 per year (for a home valued at $100,000).

Mohawk Local School District: Looking to renew a 1% income tax for five years.

Various other renewals on the ballot:

Mohawk Community Library: A 0.8-mill renewal for operating expenses lasting five years.

Crawford County Children Services: A 1.5-mill renewal for the next eight years.

Crawford County Council on Aging: A 1.75-mill renewal for maintenance and operation of senior services over five years.

Crawford County Sheriff’s Department: A 2.75-mill renewal supporting criminal justice services for five years.

Renewals for emergency medical services are also proposed in New Washington, Cranberry Township, and Jefferson Township.

In addition to the local tax issues, Bucyrus voters will decide on a permit for the Bucyrus Tap House (Precinct 4B), located at 242 N. Sandusky St., to serve wine and mixed beverages on Sundays. Similarly, Galion voters in precinct 1A will consider a similar measure for Bell Stores 154 at 902 Portland Way N. in Galion.
