The Crawford County Common Pleas Court was a revolving door for some people Monday.
Thirty-three-year-old Katherine Williams of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to the misuse of a credit card. She said she took out more money than she was permitted to when she withdrew money from Peoples Savings and Loan using her friend’s credit card on Aug. 1. Williams was ordered to serve five years on community control and undergo a drug and alcohol assessment as well as any recommended follow up treatment. She must pay restitution in the amount of $230 and a $750 fine.
Additional penalties were leveled against Williams pertaining to the case. Williams violated her diversion program with the felony indictment along with being found guilty of child endangerment on Oct. 30 and being submitted to Riverside for an overdose on Nov. 1. Judge Russell Wiseman revoked her diversion program and accepted her guilty to plea to forgery on the original case. Williams was placed on community control for another five years for this charge and ordered to pay the balance of her $700 restitution and a $750 fine.
Twenty-eight-year-old Ryan Bedson of Galion was sentenced to five years of community control Monday afternoon. Bedson had previously pleaded guilty to the charge of misuse of credit card and awaited sentencing. In addition to community control, Bedson must also undergo a drug and alcohol assessment and any recommended follow up treatment. He was ordered to pay $1,087.17 in restitution to Moto Mart in Galion and pay a $250 fine.
Joshua Rankins told Judge Wiseman that he wanted to get clean as he prepared to enter into the court’s intervention program. The 20-year-old Bucyrus man submitted a plea of guilty to possessing heroin, which will be held until he successfully completes his two-year intervention program.
Serious allegations are awaiting 32-year-old Timothy Heefner II of Crestline. Heefner had been found guilty of second-degree felony burglary in 2013 and had been sentenced to four years in prison. He had been released on probation but returned to court for probation violations. He allegedly took property from a Duke and Duchess gas station in Ontario on Jan. 22. In December he allegedly changed his address without permission, failed to report to his scheduled office visits, and failed to comply with the Maryhaven drug court program.
Judge Wiseman appointed Rolf Whitney as Heefner’s attorney and set bond at $250,000.
It was a quick turnaround for 26-year-old Sarah Lewis of Bucyrus. Lewis had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on Jan. 8 and placed on probation for five years. She returned to court Monday for violating the terms of her community control. On Jan. 22 Lewis allegedly attempted to cause physical harm to another person and resisted lawful arrest by the Bucyrus Police Department. Judge Wiseman appointed Geoffrey Stoll as her council and set bond at $25,000.
Though 24-year-old Marissa Donohue was scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on her community control violations, that hearing was continued due to a change in attorneys. Russell Long had been court-appointed as Donohue’s counsel but she later retained Tim O’Leary.
