BUCYRUS—Gary Painter, 51, of Galion, appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday.
Painter, who posted a $1,000,000 bond, was accompanied by his lawyer Benjamin Kitzler.
Painter appeared in order to waive his right to a speedy trial. According to his constitutional rights, Painter must be tried within 272 days since he is free on bond. If a defendant chooses, they may waive their right to a speedy trial in an effort to build an appropriate defense.
Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold accepted the waiver.
Painter is charged with 15 counts of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor. Each charge carries up to eight years in prison for a total of up to 120 years in prison.
