A fifth-degree felony plus community control violations ended in prison time for a Bucyrus man.
Thirty-one-year-old Robert Posey III appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Tuesday afternoon to plead guilty to drug possession. Posey admitted to possessing cocaine on Jan. 16.
Posey was sentenced to 12 months in prison for the crime. He received a six-month license suspension and a $1,250 mandatory drug fine. Judge Russell Wiseman also ordered him to forfeit any drug-related property being held by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Posey also admitted to violating his community control on a 2011 felonious assault case. Per his agreement with the state, Posey’s community control for the 2011 case was continued, though it will be extended out to five years. His community control will be tolled until after his release from prison. Posey must also successfully complete an inpatient drug and alcohol treatment program upon his release.
Jonathon Cramer was given a second chance to amend his ways or, as Judge Wiseman saw it, three opportunities to fix his mistake.
The 27-year-old Crestline man entered a guilty plea to a fifth-degree felony of theft. He admitted to taking money from United Bank on June 20.
Wiseman will hold Cramer’s guilty plea until he successfully completes his two-year intervention program. Should Cramer fail on intervention, he could be sent to prison for a maximum of 12 months. He must also pay restitution in the amount of $1,313.75 to United Bank.
Wiseman noted this was an opportunity for Cramer to not only overcome his substance abuse problems but to also make amends for his theft and to avoid a felony record.
Eighteen-year-old Daniel Rosas of Bucyrus also entered into the court’s intervention program. Rosas submitted a guilty plea to breaking and entering after admitting that he had trespassed at 123 Franklin St. in Bucyrus on Sept. 13 in order to steal marijuana.
The guilty plea will be held until Rosas’ successful completion of the two-year intervention program.
Daniel Scales appeared in court for an initial hearing on community control violations. The 49-year-old Bucyrus man had been on community control since pleading guilty to domestic violence on Sept. 25. Scales is facing numerous violations, including multiple accounts of physical assault, contact with the victim in the 2014 case, and contact with the victim in that case after being given an order by his supervising officer not to have any contact.
Judge Wiseman appointed Rolf Whitney as Scales’ attorney. Whitney had also been appointed on other cases in Municipal Court. Bond was set at $100,000.
Twenty-two-year-old Sheree Pfeifer was arraigned on three charges Tuesday morning. The North Robinson woman had not guilty pleas entered on one count of drug possession and two counts of trafficking in drugs, all fifth-degree felonies. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 12 months in prison and a $2,500 fine. Judge Wiseman appointed Grant Garverick as her attorney and issued a personal recognizance bond due to current medical concerns.
Twenty-six-year-old Amber Hall of Bucyrus was scheduled to appear in court on a hearing to revoke her intervention Tuesday morning. After being informed that Hall is currently in the hospital, Wiseman ordered the hearing be continued until Hall is released.
