When dawn finally broke on Monday it was a day Gordon Lightfoot could appreciate, although maybe not the rest of us.
Winter arrived in Crawford County and North Central Ohio with about four inches of snow, bitter cold winds and temperatures, icy streets and days off for school children. Oh yes – and sidewalks to shovel. There was no wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, but there were plenty of vehicles that went off the slippery roadways and one injury accident on Ohio 4 north of Bucyrus.
Crawford County was briefly at a Level 2 snow emergency on Monday but as of 10:30 Monday morning the Sheriff’s Office had downgraded that to Level 1. As of 4 o’clock this morning, Crawford County remains on Level 1.
Temperatures were a brutal 10 degrees at 4 o’clock this morning with a wind chill of -7. More snow is expected today along with winds ranging from 20 to 30 miles per hour.
It will remain chilly throughout the week before warming up on the weekend.
