GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—On May 1, 2026, at approximately 5:40 a.m., the Galion Police Department responded to a bomb threat involving Galion Avita Hospital. The initial call concerning the threat was received by the hospital and was quickly reported to law enforcement.
In response, officers promptly secured the area, and hospital staff implemented lockdown procedures as a precautionary measure while a thorough search was conducted throughout the premises. The threat suggested that explosive devices had been placed both inside the building and on hospital property.
After an extensive search by law enforcement, no suspicious devices or hazards were discovered. As a result, the hospital has lifted the lockdown and has resumed normal operations.
At this time, authorities have confirmed that there is no known threat to the public. The investigation into the incident remains active, with detectives from the Galion Police Department currently working to identify the source of the threat, which was made from a blocked number.
