One day after changing her mind about a plea deal with the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office, Samantha Matney changed her mind again. Matney was back in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday and agreed to the same proposal which resulted in a net four-year prison sentence in exchange for her guilty plea to two felonies and community control violations.
Matney admitted to a pair of felony 5 charges in the new case, both for misuse of a credit card, and to being in possession of cocaine and heroin and testing positive for heroin which violated terms of community control stemming from a 2012 case.
The 33-year-old Matney had accepted and then rejected the same arrangement in favor of a trial at a hearing on Monday. Matney will serve two 12-month sentences to run concurrently on the charges of misusing a credit card, but those sentences will run consecutively to a pair of 18-month consecutive sentences for violating community control from a 2012 conviction for two counts of felony 4 theft.
Matney does receive credit for time served in the county jail and retains her right to apply for judicial release after serving six months, but Assistant Prosecutor Ryan Hoovler also made it clear his office would oppose judicial release.
Matney can only apply for judicial release one time during her sentence.
In unrelated cases Megan Fox and Brandon Postell were placed on three years of community control.
Fox, 22, was convicted of theft on 2013 and initially placed on the county’s intervention in lieu of conviction program. Fox was revoke from the intervention program, convicted of felony theft and placed on community control for three years. She must also pay restitution of $3,000 to the victim and complete an alcohol and drug treatment program.
Postell, 37, was convicted of felony 5 breaking and entering after submitting a guilty plea. He was placed on community control for three years and must complete an alcohol and drug assessment plus any follow-up treatment. Postell was also ordered to pay $3,985 to the victim.
