Two more people were sentenced to prison Wednesday in Crawford County Common Pleas Court bringing the number to 10 for the week. Jolita Myers and Kimberly Fox both pleaded guilty to drug-related charges and will serve terms in Marysville.
The 40-year-old Meyers, from Galion, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and had a second count of drug possession dropped as part of her plea arrangement. Myers was sentenced to six months in prison with credit for 22 days already served in the county jail. Myers was also fined $1,250 dollars and had her driver’s license suspended for six months.
Twenty-nine-year-old Kimberly Fox of Bucyrus was sentenced to 12 months in jail following her guilty plea to drug possession charges for heroin. Fox is credited with 40 days for time served at the county jail. She also was fined $1,250 dollars and had her driver’s license suspended for six months.
As part of the plea arrangement Fox also admitted to violating conditions of her community control on another drug possession conviction in 2013. Fox was unsuccessfully terminated from community control in that case as a result.
Twenty-four-year-old Joshua Gottfried of Galion pleaded guilty to felony 5 theft charges but avoided both prison and a felony conviction for the time being. Gottfried’s motion to be placed on the diversion program was granted by Judge Russell Wiseman.
Gottfried will go on the diversion program for an initial period of two years. As part of the program Gottfried is required to pay $3,649 in restitution to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services for overpayment of unemployment benefits. Gottfiried’s guilty plea to the theft charges stemming from that overpayment will be held pending his repayment. If he does as required the charges will be dropped. Should he fail to successfully make restitution he will be convicted.
