BUCYRUS — An FBI drug raid in Marion landed a Bucyrus woman in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on a community control violation.
Karly Griffin, 26, was in a house in Marion when the FBI served a search warrant and made 23 arrests, ending an intense investigation that began in 2015.
Griffin was originally placed on community control in 2019 after she pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison.
According to probation officer Eric Bohach, while Griffin was not charged in the raid, she still violated her community control. Bohach told the court that she was present during the raid and suspected of drug possession, she was associating with felons, had traveled to West Virginia without permission and that during the raid the FBI found an accessible AK rifle in the closet.
Griffin could have faced additional felonies, including having weapons under disability and associating with a felon. In a plea agreement, Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Griffin to a flat nine months in prison on the original trafficking charge. She will receive credit for jail time served and Leuthold said he would not oppose transitional control if the prison requested it.
“Look, you dodged a big bullet here. This could have resulted in new felony charges,” Leuthold said. “I hope this is a wake-up call for you. Quit messing with these drugs and dealers. Turn your life around. I don’t want to be the guy who sends you to prison for ten years.”
In other court action, Amanda Callahan, 25, of Bucyrus admitted to violating the terms and conditions of her community control. Callahan was placed on community control in 2017 after she pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to one year in prison.
According to probation officer Chris Heydinger, Callahan tested positive for amphetamines and meth and admitted to using alcohol as well.
Leuthold reimposed her original one-year prison sentence but told Callahan he would not oppose transitional control if the prison requested it.
Shawna Holman, 38, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs, each a fifth-degree felony and each punishable with up to one year in prison. Two other felony charges of possession of drugs were dismissed in exchange for her guilty plea.
Leuthold sentenced Holman to one year on each count for a total of two years in prison. She will forfeit a cell phone, a flip phone and $481 in cash. Leuthold told Holman he would not oppose transitional control if the prison requested it.
Jordan Bradley, 47, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to theft, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to one year in prison.
Leuthold sentenced Bradley to a flat six months in prison. He was ordered to pay restitution to Ad Credit in an amount to be determined. Leuthold told Bradley he would not oppose transitional control if the prison requested it.
