CRESTLINE—After the recent termination of three Crestline firefighters for inappropriate behavior and several other infractions, the Crestline Village Council approved the hiring of several new firefighters.
The council approved Mayor Linda Horning Pitt’s appointments of Donovan Ruckman as a part-time firefighter, Tristan Pasco as a part-time firefighter and EMT and Darren Stout and Jarrod Strouth as full-time firefighters and medics. The appointment of Rebekkah Pollitt as a part-time administrative support person was also approved.
In his report to council, village administrator John Rostash said the repair of the downtown clock has been rescheduled for the middle of October and that the village is working with the Crawford County Engineer’s office on a 2021 mill and pave project.
“We are working with Great Lakes Community Partnership for funding for our main waterline out to the water treatment plant and also funding for the Waste Water Treatment Plant,” said Rostash. “Prime has submitted for a loan to cover the cost of the design of the new facility and for development of our Downspout and Sump Pump Removal program. Letters were sent to property owners last week to bring awareness of what the Ohio EPA requires of Crestline as well as awareness of our local ordinances. This program will be critical to allowing new taps into our sewer system.”
He said the Cares Act funding requirements have been dynamic and the administration is attending webinars provided by the State Auditor’s office to stay informed.
“This funding is critical to Crestline to provide funding of resources to deal with Covid-19 and respond to the changing needs of life within this pandemic,” said Rostash.
The council approved a resolution for funds from the Cares Act to be expended only to cover the costs of the village’s requirements due to Covid-19.
The next village council meeting will be held at the Crestline Village Hall on Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m.
