BUCYRUS — An investigation by Bucyrus Police into the misuse of a credit card led to a foot chase and the arrest of three people early Wednesday morning.

At 5:59 a.m., officers began their investigation at HyMiler, in the 600 block of S. Sandusky Ave. A card was stolen after the suspects stole a wallet from a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Whetstone Street.

An officer located three suspects near Hopley Avenue at Prospect Street who matched the description of those that tried to use the stolen card at HyMiler.

One member of the trio, 32-year-old David A. Easterday of Bucyrus, fled on foot, and a short chase by Officer Adam Cramer, led to Easterday’s arrest for felony theft and resisting arrest.

The others involved also were arrested and include 30-year-old Nikita M. Herod of Bucyrus, for obstruction, complicity and tampering with evidence; and 37-year-old Brian C. Armstrong of Delaware, Ohio, for a nationwide pickup warrant for drug charges.

All three were taken to the Crawford County Justice Center to be held until formal charges are filed and court hearings occur.

Bucyrus Police Department Chief David Koepke encouraged residents to follow the “9 p.m. routine” by following the “hide it, lock it and don’t lose it.” Koepke said though it’s referred to as the 9 p.m. routine, it should be kept in mind 24/7 to combat car prowlers.
