Kim Seckel may have won the United Way drawing but Trudy Kempf was the big winner when Seckel chose not to go up in the air for a hot air balloon ride. Seckel’s raffle ticket was pulled Saturday, but she decided to pass on the ride due to her inability to appreciate heights.

Kempf didn’t hesitate to go in Seckel’s place and join Marsha Yunker for the ride of a lifetime.

“Well, I am very excited and very indebted to my friend Kim Seckel who won and said that I could go up in her place as her proxy cause this is something I’ve wanted to do all my life, so I think this will be fun,” Kempf said.  “Yes, mark it off my bucket list.”

The balloon ride was provided by Mid Ohio Balloon Adventures and the raffle earned the United Way over $500. The raffle was overseen by local United Way Executive Director Amber Wertman and was a joint effort by United Way of Crawford County and the Galion Historical Society.
