Village streets were the primary topic of discussion for members of the Nevada Village Council at Monday’s meeting. The village will be working on chipping and tarring the streets.
Council member Harold Lambright explains how much and where.
“We are going to spend a little under $33,000,” Lambright said. “We are going to do Morrison Street, we’re going to Center St. on the other side of Goodbread and we’re also going to do Grant St. and it’s the three worst streets in the Village of Nevada and then next year we’ll move on to the next bad ones, that’s all we can afford.”
Bucyrus Road Materials was awarded the contract for that street work in Nevada.
Council did pass an ordinance on a third reading regarding swimming pools in the village. Two permits for pools, as required by that ordinance, have already been issued. The village’s work day at the park is this Saturday beginning at 10 o’clock in the morning.
In another clean-up related matter the village’s mayor reminded residents to properly dispose of weeds and trash. He said the Wyandot County EPA representative may be called in to enforce related ordinances in place.
It was also mentioned that there are four vacancies for council seats and another for the BPA. Those interested need to submit petitions to the county’s Board of Elections in order to have their names placed on the ballot.
