CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford Park District and Colonel Crawford’s Company invite families to step back into colonial times at the much-anticipated Living History Days. This immersive event will feature scheduled presentations, reenactments, kids’ games, tomahawk throwing, and a variety of demonstrations and activities.

A Glimpse into the Past

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Debora Cook, a renowned artist and calligrapher, and Valerie Skinner, an 18th-century style artist. The Twisted Willow Traders will be showcasing their handcrafted silver jewelry. Stone Forge & Tissage will be demonstrating blacksmithing and weaving techniques.

The event will also feature a fur trade, wool spinning, flint knapping, a cooking demonstration, and hand-carved wooden spoons. A Native American camp and a Revolutionary War encampment by Colonel Crawford will provide a glimpse into the past.

A Weekend of Learning and Fun

The event kicks off on Friday, May 31, with a War Council from 8:00 to 10:00 pm, where British agents will speak with Native Tribes to convince them to fight for the King.

The opening ceremony will take place at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 1, with a flag-raising by Local Scouts Troop 106. The day will continue with performances by Shequonur, a Native singer and storyteller, and reenactments of the Battle Island. Lou Tommelleo will present on 18th-century weapons, and Tami Cory will discuss dressing in the 18th century.

The event will conclude on Sunday, June 2, with a repeat of the previous day’s activities and a final reenactment of the capture of Colonel Crawford.
