MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—In a much-anticipated move for the Mansfield community, the City Council approved a development agreement with Buc-ee’s on Tuesday.
This decision marks a major step forward for the project, which promises to bring substantial economic benefits to the area.
The Buc-ee’s store is set to be a game-changer, with an estimated construction investment of approximately $50 million. Once operational, it is projected to generate annual sales exceeding $25 million, contributing significantly to the local economy.
The development is expected to create between 175 and 225 full-time jobs, with competitive starting wages of $18 an hour and comprehensive benefits. Additionally, Buc-ee’s plans to hire nearly 200 part-time employees, further boosting local employment opportunities. The annual payroll for these jobs is anticipated to reach around $9 million.
These figures represent a remarkable opportunity for Mansfield, as they far surpass typical retail development statistics. Moreover, the project presents a unique chance to retain local tax dollars, utilizing a structure where only visitors to the Buc-ee’s store will contribute to repaying public infrastructure costs, which Buc-ee’s will initially cover.
While it may take some time before construction begins, this week’s approval is a pivotal economic milestone for Mansfield.
The community is experiencing a surge in development, with ongoing projects in housing, hotels, downtown revitalization and manufacturing expansion.
