BUCYRUS — A Bucyrus man appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Wednesday morning.

Christopher Stoney, 33, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to one count of intimidation a third-degree felony punishable with up to 36 months in prison.

Stoney admitted to threatening an Ohio State Highway Patrol Officer when he said, “I’m going to murder you and your entire family.”

Before sentencing Stoney, Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold asked him if he had anything to say.

“I’m not a malicious person. This was out of character and unwise,” Stoney said.

Leuthold sentenced Stoney to the maximum prison term of 36 months. He will receive 23 days of jail time credit.

In other court action, Brandon Blevins, 33, of Bucyrus pleaded guilty to one count of domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison. No new charges will be brought against Blevins. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

“You were bombed out on meth and very paranoid,” Leuthold said. “You did something that could have gotten you a long prison sentence.”

“I only did meth once,” Blevins said.

“How’d that work out for you?” Leuthold asked. “Meth makes you paranoid and that’s what happened to you. I’ve had people in here on meth who believed the walls were trying to kill them. They called the police; the police came and found a bunch of meth in their houses. I’ve had people break into homes to call 911 for help because they were high on meth and thought somebody was trying to kill them.”

Leuthold sentenced Blevins to 18 months in prison.

Jeremy Lawson, 40, of Mansfield pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

Leuthold sentenced Lawson to five years of community control and ordered him to complete alcohol and drug assessment and follow-up treatment. Lawson will forfeit all drug-related property to the appropriate authorities.

Brian Awbrey, 47, of Marion pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of his community control. Awbrey was sentenced to five years of community control in July. He violated the terms and conditions of his community service and was sentenced to 24 months in prison in September. He was granted judicial release and placed on community control in November.

According to probation officer Chris Heydinger, on January 4, Awbrey failed to report for a scheduled office visit. On January 5, Awbrey tried to bribe a corrections officer and on that same day failed a drug test which showed his system positive for methadone, meth, and methamphetamines.

Leuthold re-imposed the original 24-month prison sentence. Awbrey will receive jail time credit and no new charges will be pursued regarding the bribery of the corrections officer.
