BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Bryan Deaton, 33, of Bucyrus was sentenced Monday in the Crawford County Common Pleas Court .Deaton was originally arrested on April 7, 2025, when the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at a residence on Hill Street in Bucyrus, following a thorough investigation into the possession of child pornography.
The investigation was initiated through the Internet Crimes Against Children Program, a national network of 61 coordinated task forces representing 5,400 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
Deaton pleaded guilty to three counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, each as second degree felony.
Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Deaton to 17-21 years in prison. The indefinite sentence was imposed as part of the Reagan Tokes Law enacted in 2019. The law established the sentencing system for first- and second-degree felonies that don’t involve life sentences.
This law requires the Judge to impose both the minimum (17 years) and the maximum (21 years). Inmates are expected to be released after their minimum sentence but can be held for the maximum if they break prison rules.
Deaton will receive approximately 371 days of jail time credit. Judge Leuthold ordered Deaton to register as a tier two sex offender.
